Humanitarian Support Foundation participates in Second Helpings “Giving up a lunch hour”

Humanitarian Support Foundation employees participated in “Giving up a lunch hour” with Second Helpings by picking up two car loads of produce and other food items donated by a local grocery store and delivering to a Shelter for battered women and children. They created “Giving up a lunch hour” as a way to give back to the community. Second Helpings is an action volunteer program that collects and delivers food each week to feed the hungry programs throughout metro Atlanta. Everyone here at Humanitarian Support Foundation are dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential.

Volunteers from around the community, including Humanitarian Support Foundation employees visited local daycares, churches, and medical centers to read to children to help improve childhood development and academic achievements of children.  After the volunteers read to the children, each child was given an age appropriate book from United Way to take home.

shrinAce & TJ’s Grin Kids is a non-profit 501(c) 3 charity, created by morning show personalities Ace & TJ in Charlotte, North Carolina in January of 2000. The name of the organization comes from Ace & TJ’s motto on their morning show, “You Grin, You’re In!”

Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids is designed to enhance the lives of children in our listening areas who are terminally ill and chronically handicapped, ages five through twelve, by taking them to  Disneyworld with their entire family.

Each year, Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids charters a 737 to take these children, with their sibling, parents, and health care workers to Disneyworld in Florida. Because of their special needs and financial  strain, this is an experience that many of these children and families would not be able to know without the help of Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids.

Grin Kids is funded exclusively by listener donations. Some are large, some are small, but without the listeners, the “Radio Family” participating in various fundraising events, the Grin Kids trip would not be possible year to year.

Humanitarian Support Foundation supports 6th annual Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival

roosterHumanitarian Support Foundation supported the 6th annual Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival again this year with donations and volunteering. The Festival is a yearly charity fundraiser at Blue Mountain Festival Grounds, just outside of Martinsville, VA.  The event was created in memory of two Martinsville natives and is dedicated to promoting music, arts and education in the area.  A donation was given to support “Left Hip Pocket,” one of the bands that played at the festival. Humanitarian Support Foundation also gave an additional donation to the Martinsville Band Program, in memory of Todd Eure, a former employee of Humanitarian Support Foundation.  The organization matched our gift for greater impact for the band program that provides scholarships for high school students for band instruments.

Humanitarian Support Foundation host Fun Factory Event at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital

Humanitarian Support Foundation employees recently hosted a themed party, provided crafts and activities in the Fun Factory area for patients at  Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta.  Our team also sponsored and served dinner for the patients and their families. It was awesome to see the parents able to sit down and relax knowing their children were nearby having fun.

Most of the sports equipment was well used so Humanitarian Support Foundation ordered new basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, nerf footballs, golf balls and golf clubs for the enclosed play area.dfgh

Humanitarian Support Foundation Participates in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Event

SalvationArmyAngelTree2013The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Event is a long-standing tradition that offers individuals & families the opportunity to “adopt” (in spirit) a child for Christmas.  This opportunity gives children the chance to experience a Christmas joy that they would otherwise not encounter.  Families and Corporations reach out to sign up with their local Salvation Army to provide children with age appropriate gifts. Humanitarian Support Foundation has developed a corporate partnership with the Salvation Army.  This year Humanitarian Support Foundation supported the event with both monetary means and man-power for shopping.  Our children are the future of this country and local economies, and Humanitarian Support Foundation is proud to support the smiles of our future.
